This is a Financial Freedom Update post. Each month I report the status of my journey towards more financial freedom and reflect on my progress. To learn more about financial freedom please see my Think Week 2021 post where it all started.

Furniture and appliances. I guess you need those?

General update: After my January 2023 update I stopped my regular updates for a while. I’m not sure why – I think I just lost interest for a while. That interest is now back.

I’m writing this in November of 2023 so my recollection of what I spent money on is fuzzy at best. To make it easier for me to create these backdated updates I’ll likely end up putting more stuff into the ‘Other’ category. I think this will be just fine as the big buckets (Home, Food, Transportation) are still there.

Savings rate: 27%.

I spent money on a standing desk and I’m quite happy with that. I also had to buy a fridge for my new apartment. Moving is expensive. Those two expenses dominate the month and resulted in a quite poor savings rate (relatively speaking).
