This is a Financial Freedom Update post. Each month I report the status of my journey towards more financial freedom and reflect on my progress. To learn more about financial freedom please see my Think Week 2021 post where it all started.

December was completely dominated by the home category as I moved to a new apartment.

I saved -79% in December. Ouch!

I had to pre-pay several months of rent plus a big deposit. So this is money spent that will benefit me moving forward.

It’s a bit tricky to analyze the numbers as the home category completely dominates. But I also spent quite a bit on food, gifts, and transportation in December.

Food for a couple of parties, gifts for my family, and transportation as I lived about 80 km from my workplace during December and had to drive to work at least a few times a week.

December was another unusual month as I returned from my travels and started working again—but with no apartment to live in yet. But this will be the last such months (for now).
